4 Blogs and Articles Every Developer or Engineer Should Read
Useful articles every developer should read
This week, we are going to talk about some useful articles and blogs every developer should read.
1. Best Developer Quotes
A developer's job is tough. It's not always glamourous.
Not every developer is a born genius like Mark Zuckerberg in the movie The Social Network, who can code an app overnight.
A developer deals with complex problems day in and day out. Sometimes you get stuck on a problem for days and feel demotivated. You often ask yourself, “Am I good enough?”
When you feel demotivated or bored with programming, I recommend reading this article written by Dhiraj.
2. Overreacted
If you are into the web development space, then you should check out Overreacted by Dan Abramov.
Dan mainly writes about React and JavaScript. I really like his blog posts, as they are practical and useful in a developer’s day-to-day work.
3. Effective Engineer
Check out this GitHub page that has published content from Edmond Lau’s book The Effective Engineer. There is some really good advice for engineers and some must-have traits that you should strive for to be more effective at your job.
Every few weeks, I always go back to this page to remind myself what I should be focusing on and where I need to improve as an engineer.
What’s an Effective Engineer?
“They are the people who get things done. Effective Engineers produce results.” — Edmond Lau, The Effective Engineer
4. The Pragmatic Engineer’s Developer Culture Test
If you are the head of engineering or managing a team of engineers and want to have a strong engineering culture at your company, then you should read this article by Gergely Orosz.
In the article, Gergely provides a very simple culture test that focuses on three key areas with five questions each.
