How to Discover Rapidly Growing Topics on the Internet
Discover trends, get a detailed analysis of IPOs that matter, get more done, and host team-building exercises online
This week we will talk about a website, a newsletter, a browser-based workspace, a to-do app, and an online service.
1. Exploding Topics
I discovered Exploding Topics 2–3 years back while doing some research on trending topics on the internet. It's similar to Google Trends and it gives you a list of topics that are trending across various categories. It uses google trend and some of its proprietary technology to discover trending topics.
It's basically a Twitter trend feeds for the entire internet. I find it very accurate and you can discover many trends that are about to go viral before anyone else.
It also offers a newsletter where they send weekly exploding topics along with expert analysis. Thanks to the exploding topics I saw Peleton trending and made a bet on its shares for which I got rewarded handsomely.
I highly recommend this website if you want to keep up to date on what is trending.
2. The S1 Club
If you are into investing in the stock market especially in upcoming IPOs in the tech space you will find The S1 Club very useful.
Any company that is about to go public files an S1 form with SEC in the US. Form S-1 requires companies to provide information on the planned use of capital proceeds, detail the current business model and competition, and provide a brief prospectus of the planned security itself, offering price methodology and any dilution that will occur to other listed securities.
The S1 Club is a newsletter that provides a detailed and easy-to-understand analysis of these S1 forms. It gives you a peek into company finances before they go public so you can make an informed decision based on numbers rather than hype.
With the IPO market getting hot again with the listing of Doordash and Airbnb The S1 Club can be a very useful tool to have.
3. Sidekick
This one is for productivity geeks.
Sidekick is a browser-based workspace build on the Chromium browser. Since most of the applications and tools we use at work are mostly browser-based we often have multiple tabs open and with so many tabs open sometimes it difficult to navigate between different tools.
Sidekick allows you to add different tools like Gmail, Telegram, Trello, Asana, Confluence, Jira, BitBucket, Github, Twitter, etc on its sidebar and you can navigate between all of them easily. At any point in time, you will only have one tab open which makes it easy to work and keeps your workspace clean.
It also comes with an in-built adblocker and since you only have one tab open its reduces memory consumption.
I have been using Sidekick for the last couple of weeks and I am loving it so far. I really like its search feature where I can search for files, bookmarks, and history. It's like a giant search of all your content online.
4. Flink It
As I said in one of my earlier posts with the rise of conferencing platform likes Zoom we will see a lot of innovation in supplementary apps that rely on video conferencing platforms like zoom. One such app or service is Flink It, it helps companies organize team-building events online.
It's very simple to set up, choose a date, start a conference call, and play. With everyone working from home, team building and having a great rapport with the team has become even more important.
If you are looking for remote and innovative ways to organize a team-building event then you should definitely check out Flink It.
