This week we are going to talk about a website to read articles distraction-free and a website that helps you learn probability.
1. Outline
Most of the real estate on news/media outlet websites are occupied by advertisements (a lot of click baits). On top of it, they don’t even allow adblocker.
For me, all these advertisements and links to other articles on the page are very distracting. I end up hopping from one article to the other without finishing the article I started. If you do the same, then you should check out Outline.
It’s a free service for reading and annotating news articles. All you have to do is copy and paste the URL of the article you are interested in and it removes all the clutter so you can read it distraction-free.
The only annoying thing about Outline is that you have to manually copy and paste the URL. I hope they can come up with some sort of extension or app using which you can save the article directly from the website, to read it later. (Something similar to Pocket).
2. Seeing Theory
If you are a visual person like me and want to learn statistics and probability then you should check out Seeing Theory.
The goal of this website is to make statistics more accessible through interactive visualizations.
They have chapters on Basic Probability, Compound Probability, Probability Distributions, Regression Analysis, and few others.
I wish this website existed when I was in school. I used to struggle with probability and math in general. Having a visual and interactive learning mechanism would have definitely helped.
